During the meeting, the Auditor General presented the progress report on EUROSAI Strategic Goal 1 (SG1), coordinated by the National Audit Office in collaboration with the German Supreme Audit Institution (SAI), and participated in a special agenda session dedicated to civil protection and defense issues.

In presenting the results of SG1’s activities, the Auditor General highlighted the strengthening professional partnership among EUROSAI members and the growing scope of practical cooperation.

“By taking responsibility for EUROSAI’s strategic direction in professional cooperation and innovation, we set ourselves a clear goal—to bring European auditors together for joint practical work. Today we see solid results: in the past two years alone, we have implemented about 40 joint international initiatives. Auditors are actively uniting on topics such as the use of artificial intelligence, climate change, and public sector innovation. This allows us not only to share experience but also to create new common practical tools for addressing emerging challenges,” noted Auditor General Ms Segalovičienė.

At the event, the Auditor General also delivered a presentation on “Civil Population Defence,” where she presented the public audits conducted by the National Audit Office in 2025: “Preparation of citizens of the Republic of Lithuania for civil resistance” and “Modernisation of the public warning system, development of collective protection structures and shelters.”

During the 65th EUROSAI Governing Board meeting, other issues of importance to the organisation are traditionally reviewed: portfolio leaders present their results, the application of artificial intelligence in auditing and real-time audits are discussed, financial matters are addressed, and the upcoming XIII EUROSAI Congress, to be held in Slovakia in 2027, is discussed. Considerable attention was also devoted at the meeting to new initiatives related to the readiness of supreme audit institutions to respond to geopolitical, technological, and societal changes.

Founded in 1990, EUROSAI is a professional organisation of European supreme audit institutions, bringing together 51 supreme audit institutions and the European Court of Auditors. The organisation’s Governing Board consists of eight members, four of whom are elected for a six-year term. Currently, the members of the Governing Board are the SAIs of the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Sweden.

At the XI EUROSAI Congress held in 2021, the National Audit Office was elected to the EUROSAI Governing Board for a six-year term after a 16-year break, and during the XII Congress held in 2024, it was elected to serve as the organization’s second Vice-President.
