Recently, Sandra Kudžmaitė and Živilė Golubevė, senior international relations officers at the Communication and International Relations Department of the National Audit Office, attended the Annual Meeting of the Liaison Officers from the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of the European Union (EU) in Larnaca, Cyprus.
One of the main objectives of the meeting was to prepare for the upcoming EU Contact Committee meeting, which Auditor General Irena Segalovičienė will attend in Paris this October.
Although the agenda of this week’s Liaison Officers meeting focuses on the activities of the EU audit community in the coming years, this meeting is important for Lithuania due to an officially announced mission. Next year, the National Audit Office will host the European audit community in two events planned in our country:
- On 27 April 2027, a High-Level Conference of EU SAI Heads will be held in Vilnius. It will focus on the priority themes of Lithuania’s Presidency of the Council of the EU: competitiveness, economic security and resilience.
- In spring 2027, the Annual Meeting of the Liaison Officers of the Contact Committee will also be organised in the capital city.
This international commitment gives the National Audit Office the opportunity and responsibility to actively contribute to shaping the EU audit agenda and addressing challenges relevant to the whole of Europe. The new insights brought back by our colleagues from Cyprus will form the basis for launching intensive preparations for the 2027 events.
About the EU Contact Committee
The EU Contact Committee is an autonomous, independent and non-political assembly of the heads of the SAIs of the EU Member States and the European Court of Auditors. Its aim is to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in auditing and related activities, and to promote a common approach to audit and accountability issues.
The Contact Committee provides an opportunity to cooperate directly with colleagues from various EU countries, sharing expertise, experience and best practice, with a view to achieving a more consistent and higher-quality assessment of the management of public funds across the European Union.
