This week, a meeting of the EUROSAI Project Group on Regulations is taking place in Bratislava (Slovakia) to update the EUROSAI organization's governing documents. During the meeting, representatives of the supreme audit institutions (SAIs) of nine countries – Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Israel, Sweden, and the United Kingdom – are coordinating the final provisions of the draft Guidelines for the Implementation of the EUROSAI Strategic Plan.
The draft guidelines were prepared by the National Audit Office in cooperation with partners implementing the EUROSAI Strategic Goal 1 and Strategic Goal 2 – the SAIs of Germany, Sweden, and Poland. The final provisions of the agreed draft guidelines are planned to be approved at the 65th EUROSAI Governing Board meeting, which will take place in Rome in May this year. The Lithuanian SAI is represented at this meeting by Živilė Golubevė and Sandra Kudžmaitė from the Communications and International Relations Department. Active involvement of our institution in EUROSAI activities strengthens international cooperation aimed at achieving the organization's strategic goals.
EUROSAI, established in 1990, brings together 51 supreme audit institutions and the European Court of Auditors. Its Governing Board consists of eight members, four of whom are elected for a six-year term. After a 16-year break, the Lithuanian SAI was elected to the Governing Board for a six-year term at the XI EUROSAI Congress in 2021.
Currently, the EUROSAI Governing Board consists of the SAIs of the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, and Sweden, together with the Lithuanian SAI. During the XII Congress held in 2024, the Lithuanian SAI was elected to serve as the second Vice-President of the organization.
