The National Audit Office took the first steps in process management back in 2007 and in 2015 the quality management system was certified according to ISO 9001. A recertification audit every three years and annual surveillance audits ensure that the standard is not just a formality, but a really functioning system.
ISO standards are continuously updated to adapt to the changing environment. International quality standards, which are essentially collections of proven best practices, clearly define responsibilities, objectives and performance indicators and ensure that decisions are based on objective data. The standard integrates risk management, systematically plans and controls processes, and ensures that all audits are carried out according to a clear and consistent methodology.
The implementation of good practices does not require a certificate - the National Audit Office implemented them before the formal introduction of ISO requirements. However, ISO 9001 provides a systematic approach, ensures consistency, clearly defined indicators and encourages continuous improvement. Without this standard, it would be difficult to ensure that all the Institution's departments operate to a single quality standard, promoting continuous maturity and steady growth.
ISO 9001 at the National Audit Office is not just a certificate, but an effective system that contributes to a more transparent and accountable public sector, better quality audits and more efficient use of resources.
